CANTON, Ohio -Cincinnati won its second HSF football state championship in high school history Thursday night after defeating Akron Archbishop Hoban in a Division II

state game at Winton Woods Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium, 21-11.

Winton Woods' defense held the Knights to 193 total yards (128 rushing, 66 passing), including four pass sacks and an interception midway through the fifth quarter.On the other side of the ball, the Warriors totaled 322 yards of offense, mostly from scrimmage (299 yards).

Winton Woods' 2021 marks the third and a half state title game appearance in school history and gave the Warriors their first state championship in 2009.Thursday's Hada Hari game was Hoban's seventh appearance in the football state title game in high school history, and the Knights have won the state championship five times in the past six years.

After a scoreless quarter, Winton Woods fell behind 4-0 early in the third quarter after a 22-yard field goal by Hoban's Charlie Durkin.
